Overview
From December 2026, the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) will require practices to comply with a series of transparency requirements. While smaller practices have until March 2027, they also have similar work to do, potentially with less administrative support. These new requirements include publishing clear, VAT‑inclusive pricing, detailed parasiticide product lists, health plan information, and ensuring data is supplied to the RCVS.
The Digital Practice CMA Website Plugin is being developed to help your practice meet these new obligations easily and consistently – while reducing administrative workload and keeping your website accurate at all times.
What the CMA Website Plugin Does
1. Automatically publishes CMA‑compliant price lists
The plugin pulls all required pricing directly from your Practice Management System (PMS) via a secure API.
Whenever you update a price in your PMS, your website will update automatically – no manual editing, no missed items, no inconsistent information.
The plugin supports all mandatory categories, including:
Species groups
- Cat (<10kg)
- Small dog (<10kg)
- Medium dog (10–25kg)
- Large dog (25–40kg)
- Extra‑large dog (40–60kg)
- Giant dog (>60kg)
Standard price list (Remedy 2b)
Ready to be hosted prominently on your website – maximum one click from the homepage, clearly labelled “Pricing” or “Fees” – the plugin supports the full list of required services:

The plugin also includes the CMA‑required message:
“Prices for listed treatments or surgeries may be adjusted upwards in more complex or complicated cases.”
To make your compliance even easier, the plugin will also generate printable posters for your waiting room, to meet the offline transparency requirements too.
2. Supports parasiticide transparency (Remedy 2c)
The plugin enables publication of your practice’s most commonly sold flea, tick, and worm treatments, including:
- Prices inclusive of all fees and VAT
- Clear differentiation of formulations, pack sizes, and dosages
- Direct link to the VMD Register of Online Retailers
It also includes the mandatory notice advising pet owners to consult their vet, and highlights that products will only be prescribed following clinical judgement. Of course, for this one you will need to tell us what the most commonly sold products are, either at setup, or once live through the online Plugin Management Dashboard.
3. Publishes comprehensive Pet Care Plan details (Remedy 2d)
A dedicated, CMA‑compliant health plan page will automatically include:
- All included services with explanatory text
- Frequency and timeframes
- Monthly and annual plan pricing
- Standalone pricing for each included service
- Cancellation information
- Identification of included parasiticides
- Link back to the parasiticides price list
- Explanation of how savings were calculated (and what is excluded)
- Indicative annual standalone parasiticide cost
The plugin also enables “unlimited use” comparisons using the required average‑use method, although your practice will have to tell us what average use is – if you don’t, it will assume twice, as per CMA guidelines.
4. Supplies data to the RCVS (Remedy 3)
At the click of a button, practices will be able to send required pricing data directly to the RCVS – streamlining compliance.
5. Capacity for customisation with default fallback
While the CMA are currently not permitting any description of services, we are building the capacity to do so, as we feel that the missing data is critical to explaining the context of any price. We are hopeful that the CMA will realise the issues this will cause the customer and permit additional explanation in time – and if they do, the plugin will be ready.
Our Ongoing Development Work
1. Enhancing the pricing module
The Digital Practice pricing engine keeps websites up to date automatically and allows pricing to be exported or printed to meet CMA requirements for in‑practice displays such as posters or leaflets. We are also exploring user‑friendly leaflet templates as part of our roadmap.
2. Improving layout & usability
Based on your feedback, we are refining page templates for parasiticide lists and health plans to ensure ease of use, clarity, and CMA alignment.
3. Mapping PMS data to CMA lines
Because some CMS/PMS systems separate items differently, we’re learning how to map multiple data points into a single CMA‑compliant price line.
Our aim is simple setup and seamless ongoing updates – so you never have to manually maintain your CMA information.
Be Part of the Beta Programme
We are developing a free beta of the CMA Website Plugin and would love practices to join us.
If you’ve already shared your data
We’ll be in touch soon so you can review the mapped results and help shape the system.
If you haven’t yet shared your PMS pricing data
We would be very grateful if you could either:
- Send your PMS pricing dataset, or
- Provide permission for us to pull it (if you already use Digital Practice)
This data is used strictly for internal product design, shared only with our technical and veterinary teams, and permanently deleted after we verify mapping accuracy with you. It will never be published.
Join Us in Shaping the Future of Transparency
We are committed to helping practices meet the CMA’s transparency goals while reducing administrative burden – as well as turning the process into a positive opportunity to highlight the value of your clinical services.
